Insurance
Do I need to purchase Health Insurance
All students are encouraged to have health insurance; however, it is only mandatory for graduate students and international students. Students can purchase University-sponsored insurance or provide proof of insurance.
Students will receive information regarding health insurance via email (to Notre Dame email address only). Failing to follow the proper steps to opt-out of the University insurance plan will result in charges to your student account.
A student insurance program is available and is designed to supplement the services provided at University Health Services. Students who are covered by the University-sponsored student insurance program will automatically have their insurance claims filed. Otherwise, the student will receive an itemized statement to submit to their private insurance carrier. Please be aware all charges may not be covered.
What are the rates for the University-sponsored student insurance program
Summer (5/15/22 - 8/14/22) | Rates |
Student | $676 |
Spouse | $676 |
Each Child | $676 |
All children | $1,352 |
Why did my student account get charged for health insurance
Graduate students and international students will automatically be charged for health insurance unless they follow the instructions to opt-out. Instructions are emailed to Notre Dame email accounts prior to the beginning of the regular Summer Session.
