ID Resources

Unique Numbers

When Notre Dame enrolls you as a student, the University assigns you a number called your ndID number. Your ndID number provides access to a variety of resources, including a NetID that allows you to use services such as email, campus networks, shared file systems, and the insideND portal.

How do I get my ndID number

Students new to Notre Dame will be given their ndID number through a confirmation email after their application has been received and processed.

How do I get my NetID

Once admitted to the University, students will receive an email from "Okta" (noreply@okta.com). The University of Notre Dame uses Okta to manage the IT services students have access to as a member of the Notre Dame community. The email will have a link and instructions on how to activate their new account. This is where students will set a password, a security question, and enroll at least one device for two-step authentication. It is recommended students complete the activation from a computer. Students should contact the OIT Help Desk at 574-631-8111 or via email at oithelp@nd.edu if they have any issues with setting up their NetID or password.

How do I get my Notre Dame ID card

Students should go to the Campus Card Office located at 423 Grace Hall to obtain their Notre Dame ID card. A government-issued license or passport and ndID number are required in order to obtain the ID card.
