Visiting Students

The checklist below should be helpful for an easy transition into the Summer Session.


Obtain NetID and create password (New to Notre Dame):

  1. Go to the NetID activation page 
  2. Click on 'To Obtain your new NetID, click here'
  3. Complete the Responsible Use Policy, then enter your ndID and date-of-birth. Your ndID number will be given to you in your confirmation email from Notre Dame. 
  4. Then you will be given your NetID and an opportunity to create a password.

Reset password (Not New to Notre Dame):

  1. Reset your password
  • If you do not remember your NetID, click retrieve my NetID (Enter your first and last name and click search).
  • If you do not remember your old password, click I forgot my password
  • If you have any problems reseting your password, contact the OIT Help Desk at 574-631-8111 or visit OIT Help Desk Password and Solutions.

Complete ND Roll Call

  1. Click on insideND
  2. Search for ND Roll Call
  3. Click the ND Roll Call task
  4. Follow on-screen instructions

Items to Note

  • ND Roll Call is available starting May 22.
  • All student must complete ND Roll Call; including students registered for a 0-credit hour course, doing an internship, and/or conducting research.

Apply for On-Campus Housing

  1. Click on insideND
  2. Search for housing
  3. Click the Campus Housing (Home Under the Dome) task
  4. Click on 2017 Summer Housing Application for Residence Halls under Summer 2017
Items to Note:
  • The on-campus housing application is available starting April 15.
  • Students must provide start and end dates or a housing assignment will not be made.
  • Housing assignments are sent to an applicant's Notre Dame email account.
  • Students doing research in the summer might already have a room assigned to them; students must check with their hiring department.
  • Students in a program might already have a room assigned to them, students must check with their program manager or coordinator.

Apply for Meal Plans

  1. Click Meal Plan Application.
Items to Note:
  • The meal plan application will be available by May 1
  • Students doing research in the summer might have a meal plan provided for them. If so, this information will come from the hiring department.
  • Students in a program might have a meal plan provided for them. If so, this information will come from the program manager or coordinator

Complete Medical History & Physical Report Form

  1. Click on Medical History & Physical Report Form
    • Complete pages 1 and 3
    • The Physical Evaluation on the bottom of page 4 is not required unless you plan to participate in intramural sports
    • You will also be asked to input your immunizations electronically. The link is on the Medical History and Physical Report Form. The electronic form to enter your immunizations is only available for summer students starting May 15
  2. Send form and proof of immunizations to University Health Services prior to the start of classes (their address is on the form)
Items to Note:
  • Health insurance is mandatory for graduate students and international students. University Health Insurance will be charged to your student account unless proper opt out procedures are followed. The procedures are sent to your Notre Dame email account. Check your Notre Dame email early and often. The deadline to opt out might be scheduled before you arrive to campus.
  • International students must have an approved, US based health insurance or will be required to pruchase University insurance. Please contact University Health Services to see if your insurance is approved.

  1. Click on Notre Dame email
  2. Enter netID and password

Pay Tuition

  1. IRISHPAY
    • Online payments are quick, easy, and secure using eCheck via IRISHPAY. eCheck is an electronic version of a paper check. To make payment via eCheck, you must provide a routing number and bank account number.
    • IRISHPAY is available through insideND.  
  2. In Person
    • Payments (checks, cash, or money orders) are accepted at the 1st Source Bank branch in the basement of LaFortune Student Center. Please have your ndID number as a reference.
  3. Mailed
    • Payments (checks, cash, or money orders) are accepted. Please mail to University of Notre Dame, P.O. Box 11116, South Bend, IN, 46634-0116.
Items to Note:
  • Credit card payments are not accepted
  • Statements are generated at the end of May, June, July and August. Payment is due upon receipt of your statement or before the first day of the student's summer course. If you have not received a statement by the first class day, please make arrangements with the Office of Student Accounts by contacting them at (574) 631-7113.

Obtain Student ID Card

  1. Go to the Campus Card Office located at 423 Grace Hall (view campus map)
Items to Note:
  • A government-issued license or passport and your ndID number is required in order to obtain the ID card.

Apply for Parking Pass

  1. Click on insideND
  2. Search for parking
  3. Click on the iNDCARS task.
Items to Note:
  • Registration for vehicles is available starting May 18.

 Notify the Office of the Summer Session of Schedule Changes

Adding a Course

  1. If the class has not started yet or is within the add deadline (see registration dates), you can add a course through insideND.
    • Click on insideND
    • Search for registration
    • Click on the NOVO Registration - Add/Drop task
  2. You can also add courses by sending an email to sumsess.1@nd.edu.

Dropping a Course

  1. If you are dropping a course on or before the refund deadline/1st drop deadline (see registration dates) and it is not the only course on your schedule, you can drop it through insideND.
    • Click on insideND
    • Search for registration
    • Click on the NOVO Registration - Add/Drop task
  2. If you are dropping a course on or before the refund deadline/1st deadline (see registration dates) and it is the only course on your summer schedule, you must complete a Summer Session Discontinuance eForm. 
    • Click on insideND
    • Search on eForms
    • Click on the eForms task
    • Under 'Create New', select Summer Session Discontinuance
    • Complete and sumbit
       
  3.  If you are dropping a course after the refund deadline/1st drop deadline (see registration dates)
    • If the course is not the only course on your schedule:
      • Go to the department offering the course to have them initiate an Add/Drop eForm.
      • If the department offering the course is not available, go to the Undergraduate Studies Office of the college offering the course to initiate an Add/Drop eForm.
      • If dropping after 2nd drop deadline, you will receive a 'W' on your transcript.
         
    • If the course is the only course on your summer schedule, you must initiate a Summer Session Discontinuance eForm
      • Click on insideND
      • Search on eForms
      • Click on the eForms task
      • Under 'Create New', select Summer Session Discontinuance
      • Complete and sumbit
      • If dropping after 2nd drop deadline, you will receive a 'W' on your transcript.

  6. Select Section
  7. Click Submit

  2. Click on Appropriate Course to see if there is required readings prior to the start of your class
